Future Programming Workshop
On the evening of Monday, September 23rd, a group of SMPS-ers (14 in all) gathered to brainstorm for the slate of programs for the upcoming chapter year. Led by the Programs Committee Directors Diana Banh and Wendy Osaki, the session kicked off with a spirited discussion of past program favorites. In addition to the standard program schedule, planning for the quarterly Market Share series, and this year’s signature event, Marketing Bootcamp was included.
After reviewing a list of topics, the group then wrote down their favorites – or ideas for new topics – on colorful post-its, assigning them to either the “Must” or “Waitlist” categories. Separate concepts and ideas for the Market Share and Marketing Bootcamp were also posted.
Votes were tallied and decisions made. So, what can members and A/E/C professionals look forward to over the next year? Our goals include bringing back a few of our most popular programs: strategic planning, and better and more thorough understanding of the seller-doer model, to name a couple.
The brainstorming ended with an exercise from the February program, Championing Lean Marketing & Communication. Current Chapter President Susie Smith facilitated the “plus/delta” and the group took five minutes to review takeaways and say what worked and what didn’t.
Special thanks to Shannon Daggett and Langan for providing meeting space – and dinner – for this successful brainstorming session!
