SMPS SFBAC Sponsor Spotlight: Langan
By Tina Barni Aday
I recently had a chance to touch base with Shannon Daggett, CPSM, Marketing Manager for Langan, and ask her a few questions about her firm, which is one of our Silverado Trail sponsors.
Tell us about your firm and services.
As a premier provider of integrated land development engineering and environmental consulting services, Langan brings more than five decades of expertise and experience to challenging projects around the world.
How many years have you been in business?
Our firm was founded in 1970 with our 50th anniversary taking place last year during the pandemic. Sadly, most of our celebratory client and internal parties were cancelled, but we are gearing up again for celebrations!
Could you tell us about notable projects?
Yes. Some of our notable projects include:
Chase Center
The home of the Golden State Warriors provides seating for 18,000 fans and has a view deck and two public plazas, 580,000 square feet of office/lab/event space, retail, restaurants, and underground parking. Langan provided out-of-the-box ideas on foundations, cutoff wall design, soil treatment, and the dewatering system design for the $1.4 billion project.
City Place Santa Clara
The $2 billion-plus post-closure development is an example of how complex projects benefit from our multi-discipline collaboration to manage engineering and regulatory challenges. Plans are for mixed use, including office, hotel, retail, restaurant, entertainment, residential, and parking.
Oyster Point Life Sciences Redevelopment
The multi-phased 508,000-square-foot redevelopment will transform 81 acres of bayfront area into a mixed-use biotech development. Langan is currently providing on-going multi-disciplinary services during grading, landfill cap work, and site development within the Phase I and II portions of the Oyster Point Properties. What differentiates your firm in terms of approach, talent, tools, values?
Langan offers an interdisciplinary approach for ground and below engineering services. Our mission is to contribute to the success of our clients by providing an unmatched combination of our people’s technical excellence, practical experience, and responsiveness. Our vision is to be recognized by our clients, employees, and competition as being “the best” engineering and environmental consulting firm. To be “the best” we will hire only people who can demonstrate the potential to grow; constantly seek to transfer our values and technical knowledge internally; relentlessly pursue improvement in the quality of our work; and know our clients and their needs better than any other firm in our field.
How long have you been a sponsor of SMPS?
This is our third consecutive year.
What are some of the memorable or key events of SMPS that your firm has been involved with?
We were one of the tour guides of the Salesforce Park/Transbay Terminal tour in Fall 2019. Looking forward to more project tours!
