President’s Message – August 2021
At the beginning of the 2020/2021 SMPS SFBAC board year, I wrote about going back to your WHY—embracing change, finding the magic, and working as a community. Now, as we reach the end of the board year, I look back and am extremely proud of the Chapter’s successes.
This year’s board has worked tirelessly to provide meaningful professional development and networking opportunities for our members, including educational events, a reimagined Creative Minds series, CPSM Study Group, Mentoring Pathways Program, Wellness Event, Business Leaders Forums, and much, much more. We have awarded CPSM scholarships, a student scholarship, and raised funds for our philanthropic partner, 826 Valencia. Learn more about the highlights from this past year, and meet the incoming board, at our Annual Business Meeting on August 19.
In addition, this past year has been a year of continued change, and so the Chapter has adapted and evolved. We have introduced innovative virtual programming formats and topics so that we can continue to provide our members with abundant opportunities to learn, grow, mentor, and share best practices. In the year ahead, we will continue these initiatives, as we begin to transition our networking events back to an in-person format. Please join us for our Future Programming Session on August 24 if you would like to contribute ideas for the 2021/2022 year.
Time and again I find myself thinking that the SMPS SFBAC community is a network on which I rely when facing this changing climate—it has given me the ability to turn challenges into opportunities. I am so grateful for this experience, everything I have learned, and all the wonderful people I have met along the way.
As I come to the end of my term as Chapter President, I want to thank the entire board, volunteers, sponsors, and members for your hard work and support. Best wishes to President Elect Shannon Daggett for an exciting year ahead!
