President’s Message – October 2022
Is it too early for New Year’s resolutions? Surely not, as we are still at the very beginning of the SMPS SF Bay Area Chapter programming year! And many of us are preparing for annual reviews at our firms. What are you looking forward to in 2022-2023? I’m challenging myself to grow.
For the first time, I am participating in professional coaching to hone my leadership skills as I help the Chapter navigate another year of transition and experimentation. Serving as President of the Chapter this year and continuing to help Degenkolb and its clients prosper means I must think strategically about where to put my time into personal and professional development.
The Chapter offers several resources to kick off, accelerate, or measure your growth. As you and your teams think about goals for 2023, consider if a Chapter program can help you become a better professional.
If you are new to the industry, consider participating in Mentoring Pathways next year. We just wrapped up this year’s sessions. Mentors and Protégés engage in small group discussions on a range of topics, including developing a personal brand, DEI in our industry, and values-based team building.
Do you have a senior marketer’s perspective? Is your role changing? Consider joining a Business Leaders Forum cohort or helping form a new virtual one. These small discussion groups, open to members with 15 years of experience or more, are self-directed. Members share best practices, solutions, and challenges relevant to manager and director positions.
Thinking about making CPSM a goal? How about joining the Pacific Region’s study group? The Cohort is kicking off now but there is still time to register! SMPS National will be launching a new Markendium in April 2023. The final examination using the current book series is March 2023. This study group is your place for the most current information on taking and passing the CPSM examination. SIGN-UP HERE! If you’ve been considering taking the test, view the study group’s information session today. PRCSG CPSM Info Session #1 Recording.
