Meet the 2024-2025 SMPS San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Board of Directors!
Meet our new Board! The SMPS San Francisco Bay Area Chapter 2024/2025 board term runs from September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025. Board members influence important chapter decisions, test out new marketing strategies, and foster a sense of community within the industry while bolstering their leadership skills and professional credibility. Please join us in welcoming the following board members, and learn a bit more about each of them:

Hildegard Dodd
President
Hildegard is the Director of Business Development for Wilson Ihrig, an acoustics, noise and vibration consulting firm, and has over 25 years of A/E/C industry experience. She is also a mentor to industry marketing professionals and has given presentations to various organizations with a focus on leadership, collaboration, and empowerment in the workplace. She has been an active SMPS member since 1998 and over the years has served on the Boards of both the San Francisco and Los Angeles chapters. She looks forward to rolling out her main term initiatives to get Chapter members back together for in-person Programs, and to create more involvement opportunities for senior members to share their expertise!

Justin Nagy, CPSM
Immediate Past President
Justin continues on the SMPS SFBAC Board as Chapter Immediate Past President, having served previously as President, Treasurer, Communications Director, and co-leader of the Mentoring Pathways Program. Justin has more than 15 years of industry experience and has been a member of SMPS SFBAC for 12 years. He works as Marketing Director at Stok, a consulting firm that leads organizations to decarbonize now. Outside the office, Justin is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, mountain biking, camping, and fishing.

We are seeking a qualified and energetic Chapter member who wants to take on the President-Elect role to serve as President for the 2025-26 term. This role is a three-year commitment. If you are interested in giving back to SMPS, helping advance your career in this highly visible leadership role, bringing visibility to your firm, and creating valuable and lasting connections with people across the industry, we’d love to talk to you!
Elaine Moal, CPSM
Treasurer
Elaine has been an SMPS member since 2003. She’s actively involved with the Business Leaders Forum, East Bay. During her early membership years, she served as Programs Co-Chair. You’ll often spot Elaine at programs, events, and conferences, including PRC and Topaz Awards. She’s been in the A/E/C industry since 1996. These days, Elaine is Peacock Construction’s Director of Business Development & Marketing. Off the clock, she enjoys ATV-riding in mud and sand dunes, axe-throwing, and whitewater rafting with her husband and son (who’s now in college!).
Jillian Grabenstein, CPSM, ENV SP
Secretary
Jillian has eight years of A/E/C marketing experience and is a Marketing Pursuits Manager for Swinerton’s Northern California marketing team. She previously served as Membership Director and is excited to continue her second year as Secretary. She earned her CPSM certification in 2021 and is always happy to share tips. Jillian volunteers at the East Bay SPCA where she has been a “Canine Companion” for the past 12 years. When she isn’t working or walking dogs, you can find her at the barre studio or watching scary movies at home with her fiancé and their pets.

Jessica Cadkin
Director-at-Large, Communications
Jessica has been a SMPS member off and on since the early 2000’s. She has served as Communications Director (2006 - 2009) and Shortlist Editor (2012 - 2014) for the San Francisco Chapter, as well as a jury member for the SMPS National Striving for Excellence Awards (2011 - 2013). She is a senior marketing professional with over 25 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, where she has successfully managed the proposal process from start to finish for a wide range of client types. In addition, she has successfully coordinated and implemented marketing communications efforts that have included writing articles for internal and external publications, updating and maintaining firm websites, and organizing and coordinating conference activities.
Beata Bukai
Director-at-Large, Membership
Beata brings over 10 years of experience in the A/E/C industry. Since entering the industry, she has been actively involved with SMPS, contributing to the Programs Committee and planning countless events. As a Senior Marketing Consultant at WSP, Beata is involved in a wide range of professional services marketing, including engineering, planning, community outreach, architecture, environmental resilience, and project/construction management. Beata is excited to enhance the member experience and foster community within the chapter. Outside of work, she enjoys dining out, stand-up comedy, watching live shows, and traveling.
Rebekah McMenamin, CPSM
Director-at-Large, Future & Emerging Marketers
Rebekah has been a part of SMPS for 15 years and her professional focus has been on marketing within the A/E/C industry. She is currently the Marketing Manager overseeing HOK's San Francisco and Seattle offices. Rebekah is actively involved in co-leading the San Francisco Business Leaders Forum and serves on the membership committee of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP). When not engaged in work, Rebekah enjoys watching her nine-year-old son play sports and cheering for the Giants.
Steve Passaglia
Director-at-Large, Programs
Steve has been a member of SMPS for seven years, volunteering on the Programs Committee since 2022. Steve is a senior marketing professional with 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, where he has successfully driven growth and innovation. He is an Associate Vice President and Regional Marketing Manager at Salas O’Brien, where he leads the West Coast marketing team for structural services, developing strategies that enhance brand visibility and drive business growth. Steve enjoys going on adventures with his wife and three children when he’s not working.
