Sponsor Spotlight: Swinerton Management & Consulting

Each month, SMPS San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (SFBAC) features one of our incredible sponsors. This month, we’re excited to be shining the spotlight on one of our Bay Platinum-level sponsors, Swinerton.

    About
Swinerton Management & Consulting, the Professional Services Division of Swinerton, is a national company with 23 offices and an annual volume of $5 billion–serving both public and private clients. Starting at conception with program management and development services, and continuing all the way through project completion, Swinerton can meet all your planning and construction needs. Our services include program management, project management, construction management, project planning, budgeting, scheduling, design management, design-build management, plan checks, and inspections.

    Years in Business
Founded in 1888, Swinerton has been in business for over 137 years. Swinerton Management & Consulting just celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024.

    Notable Projects
One of our most notable programs has been the San Francisco Unified School District, where we’ve been providing project and construction management services since 2006, over three consecutive bond programs totaling $1.769 Billion, including the District’s first Design-Build project. Swinerton recently kicked off the fourth bond program with the District.

Currently, Swinerton is nearing completion of the District’s Mission Bay School, a transformative educational facility located in San Francisco’s Mission Bay District. The Mission Bay School project is recognized for its innovative approach and community integration, and it received an Award of Excellence in the project in design category from the 2023 California Coalition for Adequate Student Housing (CASH)/American Institute of Architects (AIA) Leroy F. Greene Design and Planning Awards program.

Our focus on educational facilities has led us to support various community college districts and K-12 districts by delivering high-quality projects. We also have a team of dedicated professionals who are focused on infrastructure projects, helping cities and counties improve their roadways, bridges, underground utilities, and sewer systems. Any project that adds or improves services and brings value to our communities is deemed notable by us.

What differentiates Swinerton in terms of approach, talent, tools, values?
Our approach is simple: “What can we do for our clients?” Answering this basic question to guide our strategy ensures that we are delivering what our client needs for a successful project. We strive to be our clients’ trusted technical experts, be transparent and accountable, help realize their vision, and be their strongest advocates. We tailor our services to each client by bringing best practices and lessons learned, outstanding expertise, and timely information for informed decision-making; we avoid surprises and offer the best talent we have.

How long has Swinerton been a sponsor of SMPS?
We’ve been sponsors of SMPS throughout SMPS Fellow Myrna Wagner’s tenure at Swinerton, since 1999.
